Mental health is critically important for everyone, everywhere. It is an inherent and vital part of our overall health and well-being and affects our lives in many ways. Our mental health enables us to function and thrive as individuals, family members and community participants.
It helps us cope with stress and adapt to change. It allows us to build healthy relationships and connect with others. And it supports us to learn well and work productively. Mental health and access to mental health care are a basic human right (WHO, 2022b).
What we can do to support well-being of youth:

Expand social and emotional learning programs
Recognize signs of changes in mental and physical health and take appropriate action when needed
Educate the public about the importance of mental health, and reduce negative stereotypes, bias, and stigma around mental illness.
